The quiet classic. Soft grey feathering on a cool white ground — understated, and unmistakably marble.
All marble →Carrara is the marble of quiet good taste — a cool white to soft grey ground with fine, feathery veining that stays gentle rather than bold. It has been quarried in Tuscany for centuries and put to work in everything from Roman sculpture to the calmest modern kitchens. Where Calacatta announces itself, Carrara whispers.
Carrara marble is quarried around the town of Carrara, in Tuscany. It has a soft white to grey ground with fine, feathery grey veining, so it reads quieter than Calacatta and suits rooms where the stone should support rather than lead.
It is a true marble: softer than quartzite or granite, and lemon, wine and vinegar can etch it. It is sealed at install against stains. In bathrooms, powder rooms and on fireplaces, where there is less acid and wear, it keeps its look especially well.
A honed finish is a practical choice in kitchens, because it hides etching and small marks. Polished Carrara shows the veining more vividly.
Yes. A bath sees much less acid and wear than a kitchen, so Carrara keeps its look longer there.
It is sealed at install to resist stains. Wipe spills promptly, especially oil, wine and coffee.
Carrara is greyer and quieter, with fine veining. Calacatta is whiter, with bolder veining.
