Stone bathroom vanities: what works where

A bathroom is the easiest place to use the stone you love. A vanity sees far less acid and wear than a kitchen counter, so marble that would need care in a kitchen is easy to live with in a bath. Every vanity on this page is one we installed.

Marble

Arabescato Corchia in Wilmette: a double-sink vanity cut from one slab so the veining runs end to end. Rosa Aurora in Northbrook: 2cm, square edge, 7-inch backsplash. White Carrara in Lakeview: 3cm on a brass console. Calacatta Viola in Evanston: a floating mitered vanity with a bookmatched wall to the ceiling. Marble is sealed and will patina with use.

Quartzite, granite and soapstone

Ocean Green quartzite with a 6-inch mitered edge and backsplash; polished Black Pearl granite with a 2-inch mitered edge; and black soapstone on a double vanity, which never needs sealing.

Quartz

MSI Calacatta Premata with a 4-inch backsplash, Caesarstone Buttermilk with a 3-inch mitered edge, and MSI Arctic White on a tub surround. Quartz never needs sealing and does not stain from soap, makeup or toothpaste.

For the order: bring the vanity drawing or the cabinet dimensions, the sink model, and the faucet holes you need. Sink openings are cut to the basin you choose.
